Optional analytics are your choice
Gameplay analytics are off until you opt in. You can agree on the upgrade screen after a run, or in Help → Privacy & analytics. You receive the same upgrade and can keep playing if you decline.
How the game currently works
Your progress and audio settings are stored in your browser. Answers that need checking are sent to our server and an external AI provider. Accepted answers and spelling variants may be kept in a shared answer library. A separate game identifier helps prevent duplicate answer records and award first discoveries. Please do not put personal or sensitive information in the answer field.
Netlify hosts the game and database. Hosting and security services may process IP addresses and request logs as part of delivering and protecting the service. Our optional analytics do not store IP addresses. Service providers may process information outside Canada.
What optional analytics collect
Only after an adult opts in: a random browser identifier, approximate country and province/state supplied by the host, broad device and browser type, referral channel or named promotion, and gameplay events such as question views, attempts, outcomes, active play time, return visits, sharing actions, loading time and answer-check delays.
No analytics raw answer text, keystrokes, precise location, GPS, IP addresses, full browsing URLs, advertising identifiers, session recordings or cross-site tracking. We use this information to improve questions and performance, understand which promotions bring returning players, and assess sustainable monetization. We do not sell this analytics data or use it for targeted advertising.
Control, access and deletion
Open Help → Privacy & analytics in the game to decline, withdraw consent, download your analytics, or delete the analytics tied to this browser. Withdrawal stops collection immediately. Deletion needs an internet connection; if it fails, the control keeps the identifier so you can retry. It does not erase your game progress or the shared answer library.
Optional event and session records are retained for up to 90 days, with daily cleanup. A browser identifier is removed after 90 days of inactivity. Consent is requested again after 180 days. If you clear browser storage first, we can no longer link that browser to its analytics for a deletion request; old records still expire. Changing devices can make you appear as a new browser.
Who can see it?
Analytics are stored in our Netlify database and accessible only through the authenticated developer portal and hosting administration. The portal suppresses location rows with fewer than five consenting browsers. Reports are about consenting browsers, not a census of players. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track keep optional analytics off. Optional analytics are not offered to players who do not confirm they are 18 or older.
Contact messages
If you use our contact form, Netlify processes and stores your email address and message so we can respond and handle support requests. This is separate from optional gameplay analytics. Do not include passwords or sensitive information. Contact us to request deletion of your correspondence.
